The current brand symbol was established in 1997 to express Mazda’s dedication to continuous growth and improvement. It is a symbolic development of the Mazda “M,” and shows the company stretching its wings as it soars into the future.
“Mazda,” is derived from Ahura Mazda, the god of wisdom, intelligence and harmony worshipped by Zoroastrians, the earliest civilizations of West Asia. “Mazda” also coincides with the anglicized pronunciation of the founder's name, Jujiro Matsuda, who chose the name "Mazda" in honour of his family and the Zoroastrians.
