Gram Strategy is an iterative process where Mazda engineers obsess about weight savings one gram at a time, to make cars that are lighter, tighter and more agile on their wheels. For example, we completely redesigned the rear-view mirror of our 3rd generation MX-5 just to shave off 23g. Insignificant by itself, but when the same tenacity is applied throughout the entire design process, we create a new MX-5 with more space, power and equipment and just 10kg heavier. This is also how we managed to shave 100kg off the old Mazda2 to achieve our current Mazda2 HB that won World Car of the Year 2008.
