The interior design conveys the same idea of movement as the exterior, with a surprisingly spacious design. With slim seatbacks, good forward visibility, and an instrument panel that extends to the far sides, the overall result of this car is a relaxing, high-quality environment where form and function are optimally balanced.
Spaciousness
Slim seatbacks combined with the shape of the instrument panel extending to the far left and right creates a sense of space. The instrument panel is designed in an arc that is tightly tapered at each side to prevent the cabin from feeling cramped, resulting in a sense of openness and spaciousness.
Audio Controls
The Mazda2’s steering wheel comes mounted with controls to the audio system and is positioned so you can reach them with natural movements. With a simple movement of a finger, you can change audio settings and even “mute” the volume in an instant, all whilst keeping your eyes on the road.
Driver’s Visibility
The Mazda2 reflects various measures taken by Mazda to create a good field of view that enables you to easily ascertain your surroundings in car parks and at junctions. The side mirrors have also been lowered from its predecessor so you can easily look past them and spot pedestrians crossing the road at junctions.
Rearward Driver’s Visibility
With the saddle-shape rear headrests, the drivers will enjoy good rearward visibility. The rear-door quarter windows have been designed to give the drive a good view in the rearward-diagonal directions.
Boot Space
The Mazda2 sedan’s boot is top of the class in terms of length. Even longer objects can be carried together with passengers thanks to Mazda’s art of Karakuri, allowing you to fold the rear seats down into a flat boot-through opening for extra storage space when you need it!
Link-type Hinges
Unlike other cars in this segment, the Mazda2 sedan boot lid has link-type hinges, which don’t protrude into the boot space when the lid is closed. Very clever! Very Mazda.
Storage Space
To make day-to-day driving more enjoyable, the new Mazda2 has convenient storage spaces that allow diverse items to be easily and neatly stowed. New storage spaces include a magazine rack that can be used for easy take-in and out of magazines, maps or any A4 documents, without opening the lid of the glove box. Behind it is a 7-litre glove box that can hold larger items or odd-sized necessities. Other storage spaces also include cupholders in the floor console, rear console tray for your handbag or documents, door pockets and a sun visor pocket to hold documents, parking coupons or easy reference guide books.
