Mazda is the first carmaker to break the upward spiral of increasing the weight of every new vehicle. Mazda strictly controlled the weight of its last two new products (MX-5 and Mazda2) and employed a weight-savings programme for the all-new Mazda6 as well.

As a result, even though the new Mazda6 sedan may be bigger all-round than the outgoing model, it's still lighter than its predecessor thanks to the deployment of ultra-high tensile steel.

Based on its pre-facelift model that won the likes of many journalists, the new 2010 Mazda6 is back with even more sports car on the outside and more lure on the inside.
