At Mazda, our goal is to create the ultimate feeling of Zoom-Zoom – both behind the wheel and beyond the drive.
Zoom-Zoom is what children say when they make something move. This pure emotion of motion that so many of us experience as children is what drives Mazda. Cars move us, exhilarate and liberate us, let us express ourselves and allow us to get lost in the moment. Mazda wants its cars to be like a horse to its rider; to be the driver’s seamless partner in tune even with the driver’s breathing and pulse.
In Japan, master craftsmen are called “Takumi”. All Mazda engineers refine their skills and pour their passion into building cars with the aim of becoming “Takumi”. But Mazda does not believe that building cars is only about engineering. What ultimately moves people is cars that are imbued with the engineers’ soul. Only “Takumi”, who combine their acute powers of perception with technical expertise, are able to truly breathe life into objects. For Mazda’s “Takumi”, there is no finish line. Never satisfied with the present, they devote their lives to car manufacturing and refuse to compromise in the pursuit of ever-higher levels of perfection.
The technical expertise, soul and passion of Mazda’s “Takumi” can be found not only in the feel but also the look of Mazda vehicles. Infusing cars with the vitality and beauty inherent in the movements of animals intensifies the emotional driving experience. Mazda designers and clay modelers therefore refine their designs to the tenth of a millimeter to sculpt car bodies that make a visceral impact and stir the emotions of the people who see them and drive them.
At Mazda, we believe in the importance of two simple words: Zoom-Zoom. From the way our cars look to the way they drive, these two words encapsulate everything we strive for. They represent excitement. They represent connection and the thrill of the drive. They represent us, and they’re in everything we do.
